trails: signal ridge
conditions: a pretty straight forward 3 season hike to carrigain. as stated in a previous post sawyer river rd. is open. water crossings not a problem. some mud in lower section parallel to brook. no snow on trail until switch backs high up on the ridge. just short patches that can often be walked beside. what little snow had to be stepped on was solid today. same for dip between ridge and summit. a few minor blowdowns spread out along the route.
equipment: nothing special.
comments: my last 3 trips to carrigain i didn't even climb the tower and had to cruise across the ridge as conditions always turned nasty up high. today i spent a solid hour on the tower taking in the stellar views. nice and warm in the sun and hardly a breeze. after seeing the forecast last night it was clear this was the day for hitting this peak. was nice to finally meet jeremy (rocket 21) face to face.
