Trail Conditions: Sawyer River Road recently groomed and very easy going..no traction required. Took the bushwack to avoid first brook crossing which was open. Signal Ridge Trail now broken out and loose packed for snowshoes to the summit.. No ice to speak of..Main (second) crossing wide open but low water..rock hoppable..next crossing by the spruce bog solid with water running under it which looked cool.. Next one up creaked and groaned when we crossed one at a time but everything was fine
Equipment: poles a help on the crossings..barebooted the road..we all wore snowshoes from there and back which were perfect..cold and windy at the tower so the shells came out
Comments: Thanks to Hiker Ed for breaking out upper trails where there was 4-8 inches of drifted windblown snow..Trails showed evidence of heavy rain earlier in the week with some washed out spots but was overall in great shape..no blowdowns..excellent views from the summit and tower..looked like above 5000 feet was pretty wellsocked in but we were in the clear..
