Trail Conditions: Dusting to 4 inches of snow on top of frozen leaves and some icy spots.
Special Equipment Required: Quite a bit of ice, but it is bare-bootable. Traction is very helpful. I used stabilicers and my wife used micro-spikes. 4 of 10 ppl we saw used no traction.
Stream crossings: Stream crossings do-able, but somewhat tricky. One "leap of faith" on the first crossing. On the second stream crossing we bushwacked upstream 50+yds to a huge fallen tree. Small logs frozen together across the stream on the 4th or 5th crossing.
VFTT: We turned around at the ridge/spur just before the summit due to failing sunlight, no views, and increased snow and wind gusts upwards of 60mph.
Comments: A frigid, but fun first hike of the 'season'.
