Trail Conditions: 19 Mile Brook Trail in great shape..a couple of wet spots..Carter Dome Trail smooth sailing the whole way..brook crossing no problem.Carter Moriah Trail had some muddy spots but not bad..standing water in spots due to deluge

Equipment :Nothing came out of the pack today but lunch..hat helpful in the rain..pole good until storm where it became food for thought.

Comments: Heavy storms this morning in Meredith areaput off early start but with a little prodding from visiting friend we met at 19 mile trailhead for 10:30 start.. Easy hike to Zeta..climbed into the cloud a bit to CDome ..very muggy ..no wind.. Started back down to distant thunder..waited out a bit of the storm at Zeta with a few thru hikers.thunder etc passed to our south so we decided for a bolt to South Carter and then decide on Middle and North..well..about half way over it got dark as midnite and started pouring..distant thunder but nothing close so we made south and turned around not wishing to push our luck..Followed fresh moose tracks on Carter Dome Trail and passed a group of camp kids who had made a wise decision to turn back from Mt Hight...
