Carter Dome, Wildcat A via Bog Brook Trail, Rainbow Trail, Carter-Moriah Trail, Wildcat Ridge Trail, Wildcat River Trail, FR 233
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 13, 2009
Trail Conditions: Dry trail, mud
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
Bog Brook Trail to Rainbow Trail - Wildcat Brook and Wildcat River crossings were quite tricky - stepping stones were ankle deep in water. On the descent, we took FR 233 to avoid these crossings. Bog Brook crossings weren't too bad. Trail was muddy in places, lots of bogwalks rotting out, etc. Some blowdowns.
Rainbow Trail to Carter Dome - muddy down low, bogwalks rotting out, some blowdowns, but generally good going.
Carter-Moriah Trail, Wildcat Ridge Trail to Wildcat A - mostly dry, no blowdowns. Really annoying clouds of bugs when passing the ponds.
Wildcat River Trail - brook crossings were tricky. Newer bogwalks down low, but up higher bogwalks are rotting out. We took a right onto FR 233 to avoid the Wildcat River and Brook crossings.
