Quick question. How far is the road walk between Nineteen Mile Brook trail and the Imp trail. It looks like 2 miles so, but I'm curious. Two miles on pavement might be a little too much for my feet.

Grouseking - not sure about the distance, but I did it in about 5 minutes using a Razor scooter, going from Nineteen Mile Brook to Imp. Stashed it in the woods near the Nineteen Mile parking lot. It was a piece of cake as it was mostly downhill. A bike would work even better.

Chain a bicycle to a tree in the woods near Nineteen Mile Brook Trailhead. Drive to Imp Trailhead. Hike up Imp Trail, over the Carters, down Nineteen Mile Brook Trail. Bike (coast downhill) back to your car.

If you don't bring a bike, you could hike up Nineteen Mile Brook Trail, across then down Imp Trail, then bushwhack from the last sharp turn on the southern fork of the Imp Trail, close to AMC Camp Dodge, onto Route 16. This would save at least a mile of road walk.

It's barely over a mile. I just walked it 2 weeks ago. Out of curiousity, I measured it with the car trip odometer. So it might be 1.1.

and no I don't still have the car from my old avatar picture any more, so I'm reasonably sure that it's accurate.

Depends which Imp TH you're parked at. There are two.

Oh great! Something else for the 4000 Footer Committee to add to their banned substance list! ;)

Since I hiked from trailhead to trailhead and only used the scooter on Route 16, I think (hope) I did this within the rules. If not, I have an excuse to do it again! :D

excellent point. but since the short-cut was mentioned, I assumed the southernmost trailhead. The other one is about 3/10ths more.

I should also mention that for most of the way, you don't have to walk on pavement. The shoulder is unpaved, and is a nice soft alternative after a long hike.

Plus, if you do this loop, don't skip on Hight. It's really too bad that it "doesn't count". I liked it better than the 3 that do.

Thanks!

Well this thread can end. :D I'm doing Galehead and potentially Garfield tomorrow instead. But thanks for everyone's info, as it will serve quite useful later when I head up towards the Carters.

Once you get to the road, you can travel however you want. Just don't take your scooter down 19 Mile Brook.
