Beautiful day for a hike, and even for a Tuesday the 3 parking lots were almost full. Trail up to the split was in good condition; muddy/wet in much of it, but nothing bad. Trail from split to Porter was the wettest and muddiest with a few good mud holes that required some selective hopping to get through. Views from the tops of both were awesome, with great views of a large amount of high peaks.
Black flies were out pretty heavy so bug spray or protection definately recommended. Also recommend waterproof boots and poles, which is pretty much standard equipment for most hikes.
