Catskill snow level

Hi all,

Does anyone know the approximate snow level in the catskills right now?

I live in Syracuse and am thinking about a quick overnight in the southern catskills Friday night (Maybe Balsam Lake Mtn. from the south). I wouldn't get there until dark, so I'm wondering if my (short) evening hike in will be on bare ground or snow.

Any info appreciated.

My friend and I did S. Bearpen and Bearpen on saturday 3/24 and the snowmobile trail from Halcott Mtn Road had bare spots and it was melting fast. With yesterday and today, I would expect more of the same on the road to Balsam Lake, so it'll probably be mixed until at least you get off the main road and get to the steep face to the top.

Here is a handy map for you:

Modify the date and hit "Redraw map" to find what the depth is for any given day. This map has by and large proven to be fairly accurate for me.
