I haven't been up Chocorua in almost forever (I think it's maybe been 9 years if that's possible!) but have been wanting to re-visit it since I have incredible views of the summit from every window in my new place!! Still a month to go until I begin to knock off the Fifteen 4,000 footers I have left to complete my Winter List, so I figure I may as well explore a bit until I begin to fuel my obsession again . The Piper Trail also happens to be less than 10 minutes from my house, so it seemed a great day to sleep in and also get in a good climb.
I had forgotten how rugged the second half of this trail is. After several weeks of not hiking due to illness and injury, this was no mere walk in the woods! We had very mild weather, some limited views and no wind to speak of until we were right at the cone. We only saw 2 other people hiking the entire day, which is pretty amazing for the Piper Trail.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving whether out on the trails or inside going into food-coma .
