On Wednesday of this week I decided to do a hike to Mt. Chocorua on the Champany Falls Trail. I left Boxford about 7ish and stopped in Compton to get trail mix. While I was going up to the cash register, I stopped for the heck of it to browse through the wine section. On one of the bottles said Old Fahts Wine. On it was a cartoon of a old man with a glass of the wine and it made me lol. :D
Apart from looking at fine wine it was a beautiful sunny day to be hiking. The rocks on the trail were slippery and I would strongly reconmmend trekking poles. There were limited views from the trail, but it felt great to be hiking. FYI- the bugs are fierce out and bug spray is reconmmended.
The entire walk was peaceful, and it made me forget my worries back home. It's one of the many reasons why I hike. I made the top by half past one, since I started at 10:47. I hung out at the summit and took in the VFTT. I could see Mt. Washington and the snow. It was so breathtaking.
I made it back about 4:00 and went into Lincoln to pay my first visit to the Moutain Wanderer. I spoke with Steve Smith about hiking and writing books. After my chat with him I came out with the Complete Walker IV a book I wanted since I started to hike. I enjoyed a hamburger pepperroni pizza at a pizza place across the street from the Mtn. Wanderer. I came home just in time to beat the worst of the thunderstorm that night.
