Date of Hike: Sunday, March 23
Trail Conditions: Trail from the Loj was in great shape for snowshoeing or skiing. Same for Avalanche and Colden Lakes. Path to Cliff was barely visible in places, mostly completely blown over with deep snow. No ice. On the ridge, it is nice to just walk over all that blowdown to the true summit. There was a good snowshoe path toward Redfield which turned away from the brook toward the summit. It abruptly ended about 1/2 mile from the summit, requiring a bushwhack to the top in deep snow with some crust. This route is open is places, but thick in others. The upper part of the summer herdpath is in "sleep mode".
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes used all day.
Comments: A great day and definitely still winter up there....I was surprised that no one had hiked these peaks in probably a week.
