Yesterday, Tuesday, December 27, 2011, Ken Austin completed his mission
of hiking an "official" 4000 footer of the Northeast ( ME, NH, VT, NY ), "ON
EVERY CALENDAR DAY" ( 366 DAYS ). He is the third known person, overall, to do it.
Congratulations to Ken! I was fortunate to be invited on this adventure up the awesome Camel’s Hump! We had a VERY fun day!!! Participants included Hiker Ed, Lisa, and Matt.
Getting ready for the jaunt – the preparation picture:
Going uphill – the silly-pose shot!!!
The summit was rather windy (gusts of 45+mph) so we decided to huddle just below the summit for this picture:
Patch presentation ceremony:
The White Mountains from the summit outlook (80+ mile visibility in all directions):
Close-up of the official patch (on left) and the not-so-official patch (on right) made my Matt – nice job!!!
Lisa pouring the champagne and preparing the chocolates – what is better than that combination??????
Cheers!!!
NOTE: Ken is well-known by many in the hiking community. He has hiked/climbed the "Northeast 115", plus McNaughton, plus the "New England 100" ( Total 149 ) in all "four seasons" ( Winter, Spring, Summer, & Fall ).
