Started at DST = 7:07. Sun had not come up yet, but it was light enough to see w/o headlamps. We had the waning half moon and Jupiter still visible. As we walked in, it clouded over and a little snow started to fall. It snowed lightly for a few hours, and eventually cleared up. Around 9:00, we were at the turn off. By 10:30, we had made it to Times Square. At this point, we were overtaken by a speedy rabbit that had given us an hour head start!

The rabbit dropped his pack and disappeared for Couch. We followed soon after. The trail was a gift! It had been packed down quite well. There were still a few spruce traps but it was great to be following a trail. This was Laurie's 4th trip to the Santa's in Winter and my 3rd. Many of the false trails had been marked, so we finished the job, piling sticks in front of the dead ends. The rabbit met us just a few minutes before the summit, and we chatted briefly. By 12:10, we had made it to the summit of Couch! The snow was so deep, there were views! The last time I was here in summer, I couldn't see a thing!

When we got back to Times Square, the rabbit's pack was still there, so we assumed he had gone to Santa. (This turned out to be correct, see other TR's). We had a short break, and then headed out. The walk back down was quick and we were out by 5:00.

Thanks to all the mighty trailbreakers who went Saturday! We looked at the weather forecast for Saturday/Sunday and decided Saturday was going to be nasty. It turned out it wasn't so bad, from what we could tell. But Sunday sure was a great day!

We just have ONE MORE PEAK to go!!! :D :D

But that will be a separate thread! :D
