To add to the previous post by Chaco Taco re southern presis and going further north:
Franklin - Monroe - LOC hut was basically snow free. Monroe bypass looked almost snow-free alhtough we went over Monroe. Ascent to Washington was also snow free except a pleasant snowfield 1/2 mile above the hut. Cafeteria at the top was open! Descent from Washington to treeline on Jewel was basically snow free. Jewel had snow to about 3K: still fairly firm allowing for fast going and an easy descent. Heard about tough conditions on Ammo and much snow on Edmonts path. Barebooted in light boots the entire way and felt fine. No bugs in the woods yet!
General: glorious day, stayed the entire day above treeline with the sun at our backs. Very nice linear route provided that there is a pick-up arranged at the Cog base or just hitch-hike back to Crawford AMC center like we did!
