My wife and I are heading to CV Maine to finish the local 4000 footers next week. Love to meet anyone else also there during that period.

Any rcmds for brkfst /lunch (sandwiches for hike)/dinner places??

CV = carabasset valley????

I'd heartily recommend the Looney Moose in Stratton if you don't mind the short trip, make sure you get the ice cream sundae WITH CHERRIES, you must emphasize that you want cherries.. ;) (they will hopefully get the reference!)

The Looney Moose is on on the north side of 16, aka the right side of the road. It's a small restaurant with a decent sized lot. Cash only though but the portions are big and very reasonably priced and the food was good.

Try again: Any recmds for brkfst and sandwiches for the trail?? Places in
Stratton, Bigelow, Eustis, Rangeley, Kingfield???

The BMC Diner in Rangeley is a good greasy spoon (South side of Route 4). My breakfast was solid and I was surrounded by locals.

The White Wolf Inn in Stratton is a must-do. Why? The Wolf Burger: 1/2 lb. hamburger, lettuce, tomato, onion, sautéed mushrooms, cheese, bacon, and a sausage patty, yes, a sausage patty, the diameter of the burger. After a good day's hike it is a thing of beauty.

The Stratton Diner is a good place to load up on food for not much money.

Yes, the White Wolf Inn is great!

Totally agree. Great breakfast place. If I read the thread correctly, you were asking for a place to get sandwiches for the hike. You could try the deli counter at the IGA Supermarket in Rangeley. It's on Route 4, just east of downtown.

I recommend Parkside and Main Street on Route 4 in downtown Rangeley for lunch or dinner. It is very hiker friendly and there is an outdoor deck in the back that overlooks Rangeley Lake. Good burgers and basics.

If you were looking to drop some serious coin, the Loon Lodge off route 4 east of Rangeley is a very special place. The food is very creative, the atmosphere is very special, but the prices are steep. Going there right after a hike is not recommended.
