Trails wet (it's summer 2009, duh!), but well-blazed and in excellent condition.
This loop is best done up the Dean Trail and N on the LT over the peak, returning via the Monroe Trail to the trailhead.
Monroe Trail is wide the whole distance. Dean Trail delivers hikers to the LT for a stretch of rock-scrambling and steep, sometimes slippery-when-wet rocks on the ascent to the peak.
No special equipment needed - leashed if you intend to take dogs to the alpine environs at the peak.
As usual, many dozens of hikers at the peak and on all trail approaches. Still, one of the best peaks at any time of year.
