Trail Conditions: Conditions were mixed. All major blowdown has been recently cut and moved. Some muddy areas. Some overgrown spots.
Special Equipment Required: The desire for a long hike.
Comments: No problem parking in the St. Hubert’s lot. Walked Lake Rd and got on the Leach Trail for steady ascent. Beautiful views from Dial, Nippletop and various spots along the way. Elk Pass Trail was slow going with the rocks but we decided that it was better to descend there than ascend. We considered Colvin at the turnoff but just didn’t have the stamina. Followed the Gill Brook Trail out to Lake Rd. Nice waterfalls along Gill Brook.
Temperatures were in the 60’s all day. We had some gentle winds and some stiff winds. It was hot in the sun but cold on the windy summits and when clouds moved past. Rain started as soon as we got in the car.
