Route - St. Hubert's parking area to Bear Den, over to Nippletop, down to Elk Pass, out via Gill Brook Trail.
Conditions - Finally, the conditions warrant snowshoes. Skis would have been useful along Lake Road by the end of the day, though we broke out the road with snowshoes at the start of the trip. Anywhere from 8-20 new inches of snow. Crampons and other traction not used. Along the Gill Brook Trail, snow cover was just enough to obscure roots from view, but not enough for good stable footing. Careful foot placement was the rule of the day.
Weather was mostly cooperative with summits above 4200 obscured by clouds and light flurries. Almost no hint of wind, which was refreshing, and made time for some decent views.
Ran into one hiker doing out route in the opposite direction so it should be pretty well broken out.
