Date of Hike: March 14th

Trail Conditions: Lake Road was hard-packed crusty snow. Trail over Bear Den and to Dial were in same condition. More hard-packed snow from Dial to summit of Nippletop. From Nippletop to split for Indian Head was loose, deep, powdery snow. From trail split to Lake Road was an extremely narrow groove of rock hard snow; made for tough going.

Special Equipment Required: Microspikes were helpful from car to summit of Bear Den; specifically on the steep approach to the forest fire area. Crampons were used and definitely helpful from Bear Den to Nippletop. Snowshoes helpful (at times necessary) from Nippletop summit to Lake Road. Back to microspikes at Lake Road.

Comments: Optional - Beautiful day and fun hike. .
