Hi hikers.
With only a warrior: Fior1212, (Mike) (moderator warrior in last Allen trip), We had a metting at exit 29 at 6 o'clock to drive and stay a car at Clear Pond in Elk Lake road at the usual winter parking near the gate.
We arrived in late of 5 minutes, follow the snowplow and captif behind a turtle driver to look slow when We have 2 lines road and fast in single line, Junior plays with the hight and low lights when He started grumpy!!!!
Stay calme Junior I am sure my uncle understands now!!!!
In the Round Pond parking, the time to put on winter boots and snowshoes and 10 minutes after 7 We started with a confortable pace in a perfects snowshoes tracks.
Wihtout special trouble excepted in the new blowdown sections just after the slide where the trail change to come very steep, but fortunately for us the previous hikers made a perfect contour. Thank You.
Over the trees line in Dix without view, the wind, fortunately from West side We had in the back, changed the wet clothes in a icy clothes but it was just for the short time before Beckhorn. In this section the wind blow the snow and the tracks were changing by the snow waves.
Short stop in Dix summit just the time for the usual fist hit!!!Over Brckhorn, nice surprise We refound the snowshoes tracks...Wow, We was lucky!!!!
A special picture for Mike in Hough, after a couple hundred steps the snoshoes tracks turned around.
"Nobody tells us it will be a roses garden!!" Yes Junior You have always the word to laugh!!!
In the soft snow with not a always good support ( a couple spruce traps), not always in the usual path We had a slow progress. Before the Hough-Pough col We need to check the map and take a bearing, after a short drup too much in the West side, fortunately Junior did not recognizing the trees, We returned for 5 minutes. We found the usual camp site.
Better negociations in Hough and fortunately We stay in the path to go up Carson.
In Carson, We found the new snowshoes tracks in Grace direction, the time of the Sun find a hole in the clouds and We arrived in Grace for a other Mike picture, the snoshoes tracks go down in the Boquet valley in the Carson-Grace col.
In Carson, time to eat a bar and brink few water, We restarted to Macomb. Without tracks We make a small circle between the first and second rocks open place. With the wind directely in face and wet clothes We do not take the time to check the bird migration!!!
Partely time in and out in the usual path, with a detour, We go up too much in the left, finally, after other spruce traps We can see the Macomb plaquet, YE!!!
From Macomb We refound the perfect new snowshoes tracks.
Down the slide was a funny telemark snowshoes time, with a couple stops when the smoke go out the quads...
We arrived at the Elk lake road in the time called "between dog and wolf" by Junior.
Without snowshoes in a fast pace on the road We catched the Warrior car just before dark, after 10 hours 12 minutes of wesling with the snow, wind and bushike!!!
A other memorable day with many virtual pictures in heart and head!!!
Thank You "valeureux" warrior, Fior1212 accepted to come back with us after Allen trip!!!
Thank You every people make a snowshoes tracks in this strong range.
Pinpin Junior.
P.S. With the bad forecast We have a good excuse to stay at the base camp and coconing today...tomorrow who's know?
