Trail Conditions: wet and muddy (rain with temperatures in the low to mid 50's. High winds on top.) Macomb slide was slippery due to steady rain. Herd paths up to Beck Horn in good shape. Trail from Beck Horn to Dix pond is steep and long. Our last leg for the day, Dix Pond back to slide brook lean to is longer than we expected. A lot of running water on the way out. Trudging through the middle of the trail was better than trying to rock hop.

Special Equipment: Gaiters, Rain Pants, Waterproof boots, dry clothes to change into

We spent 9.5 hours on the traverse, covering 11.2 miles, with no views and cool rain, there was no point in stopping. Good planning in this weather is essential. Could have easily had a couple of cases of Hypothermia if we weren't careful. See thread from 5/22 for good details on hike.

Two nights at Slide brook lean to no black flys, no bears.
