we found most routes to Dix Range peaks were broken over the weekend ... tried to fix them, but they were still broken when we left
we wore snowshoes on all routes except road walk from Clear Pond to Elk Lake
january 9, we hiked from Elk Lake to Slide Brook, up Macomb Slide, broke trail down to Macomb-Carson Col then followed broken path to Grace, back over Carson, down broken Lillian Brook path and out
january 11, we hiked from Round Pond to Dix, started breaking trail over Beckhorn then found tracks along the ridge and reached Hough ... tracks continued towards Carson
there were tracks heading up from Hunters Pass, and tracks heading down Beckhorn
none of these routes looked like many people had been through, but they were easy enough to follow to reach the peaks
