DIX ATTEMPT:
Lots of snow. Our group of 4 broke trail from Rt. 73 to the base of the Dix slide where the trail begins to gain altitude in earnest. It took us 7 hours to plow 5 miles through snow ranging from a foot deep to waist deep. A large group followed our trail to the Bouquet LT later Saturday, and was going to try for Dix summit today. Good luck. Snowshoes required; no crampons needed.
