Hi peoples.....and rabbits!
Yesterday morning, after We lose a couple of Warriors frighten by the forecast in order: Hilman, Neil, Fior1212 & Peggy....We stay with a small troup: Junior, Ellen, Bob, The Queen and me.
After a early get up at 4 h. 15 m. We saw We receipt only around 3 inches of new snow near the Base Camp. Check the big cloud in the regional radar and the forecast: few chance for more snow but the temperature will drop around zero during the day....it was 7 at 5 a.m. and the wind from North West around 30 milles by hour.
After a consultation of the troup, Junior is jubiling, because it will be not necesssary to comfort me after a catastrophe 58 in bowling the day before!!!!
The road covered only by aroud 3" of new snow and after We stay the Ellen car near the bridge, with only a 5 in thermometer, in Pinpin mobile with Junior for driver and 4 warriors with a big eyes We went at the summer parking without trouble....ouf!!
We meet a couple other warriors with Seymour for day plan. We put the snowshoes on the pack sack when We saw the few snow and the many water place near the register. We put on the snowshoes at the junction with coreys road trails.
The Queen and Ellen negotiate the Calkins Brook by a improvised slalom log bridge, Junior, Bob and me prefered a couple of jumps on icy rocks.
Junior, probably to concentrate in his next joke loses the path and We take a short cut before the usual camp site. Fortunately The Queen stay in the path, but Ellen and Bob was wayting for her and We need to wait for Us!!!
From this area to near the Donaldson Seward junction We stay in the path without too much difficulty. We broken the usual approach to catch Donaldson summit.
All the troup was welling to Emmons, We catched this top and come back in Donaldson. The girls take the decision to return at the car without Seward.
Bob can not resist at the Junior invitation to go or attempt to Seward. We crossed a couple time new snowshoes tracks, and We saw also many old groves (old snowshoes tracks). When We see the day snowshoes tracks turned in the left to early We turned in right and go down a little bit.
We stay in the new (the day before 4 peoples signed and hiked all the ridge under rain and snow Junior up his hat at this "valeureux" warriors) snowshoes tracks, but We lose and take the usual Junior decision: "the great way to catch a summit it is go up!!!" This way was very sticked and steep, Junior used his ears same a 5,000 pounds winch and We catched the top.
After a minute We refound the yesterday snowshoes tracks but We see also We are too much in the left.....with patience and determination We stay in this tracks, the tracks catched the Thursday Junior tracks near the last Seward shoulder. At this time We can see the ennemy and We are sure to make this ennemy a new friend. Few time near the disk marker it was very cold and Bob need to stay in move.
We returned by the same way and after 10 hours 45 minutes open the cars doors....the temperature was zero.
What a day, and probabely what a night for Bob.
Unfortunately, after a nise and short dinner at the base camp, a delicioux stew from Ellen, We need to drive at home, tomorrow is a working day for Us.
Thank You every warriors for your help to make of this day a special day!!!
