All trails were snow-covered with very few patches of bare ground. Previous hiker-traffic had consolidated the snow such that you could do the hike without snowshoes. Many hikers had done this which resulted in a choppy surface with some occasional postholes. Due to the warm temperature and softened snow, I opted to wear snowshoes to lessen the possibility of creating more postholes. On my descent, I had a backcountry skier stop and thank me for wearing snowshoes on the Doublehead Ski Trail.
There was one major blowdown on the New Path en route to South Doublehead. You could either crawl under it, or follow a short bushwhack route around it.
My BLOG has a few photos from this hike.
