What I heard concerning Croydon was the supervisor was doing all that without the knowledge of the owners. He retired, and the owners after that made sure there was no access. My guess is the new super was contacted by someone who wanted in and he went to the owners to figure out what to do.

Don't bother joining the NH fire rangers, a ranger at Kearsarge said some time ago that tower hasn't been manned in years. 😊

I remember how talkative the fire tower ranger was on Croydon when we visited, as he rarely had visitors, unlike Hal Graham at the Belknap fire tower.

Someone needs to do some digging for the original agreement from a hundred years ago to provide access to the Croydon summit once per year.
