East Dix via Rt 73 1/23/2010

This was our second attempt this season to hike E Dix via the South Fork Boquet River. We followed our tracks from the first attempt well up into the ravine. As we climbed out of the ravine, we left our previous tracks and paralleled the brook for a few tenths of a mile. We then made a staight line to the E & S Dix saddle. This was a nice bushwhack, almost completely open forest. We picked up the well packed herd path in the saddle. It was then about .3 miles to E Dix summit. It was incredible at the summit, no wind, bright sunshine and comfortable temps.

This route is now broken out and provides relatively easy access to E & S Dix
