As of 11/9 there are five cruxes on the way to East Osceola.

One and two are around 3,400 and 3,600 ft (estimating), before the slide section. The steep rocky steps are covered with a thick sheet of ice, but they are avoidable for the most part.

Three: The slide is covered with a thin layer of ice and/or packed snow. Footing can be treacherous near the sides, but there’s some trees to hold onto. The middle of the slide has some well trod snow and better footing. I had crampons and didn’t use them, so it’s possible to get by without them, but I probably should have used them, especially on the way down.

Part four is another ice sheet section that is right after the slide. The ice is harder to avoid but still you don’t necessarily need equipment if you pick your moves carefully.

Part five is a thin layer of snow that covers the last 100 feet just below the summit. Not a problem uphill, slightly more slippery than it looks on the way down.

Overall: Beautiful day today, 3rd warm day in a row. The north facing ice on the Greeley Ponds approaching wasn’t melting that much today though.
