Sat 1/30 we climbed East Osceola via the Greley Pond and Osceola trails. Conditions were hard packed snow and ice covered with power of which got deeper as you got higher.
No need for snow shoes but crampons were essential and poles helpful. A couple of younger guys bare booted it down but we wore crampons almost the entire time we were on the Osceola trail.
It was cold but the sky was cobolt blue and the wind was not bad.
This hike was sponsered by the NH Mountain Club (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NH-Mountain-Club/) which leads hikes year round mostly but not exclusively in the Whites
Our next hike we be the Clenn Bolder Trail this Sat 2/6
