Took the old RR tracks in (at parking area at 364 Linden St.)and followed the "track" buried under 5-6 inches of new snow. The surface underneath was crunchy snow and not too slippery from the new snow. Snowshoes were not needed, but might have been fun. Traction would have been helpful, but not required.
Lack of trail maps made navigating interesting. Compass and topo map would have been useful even when following established paths. Area is ringed by country roads so getting lost forever would be difficult.
