A legend indeed. I'm sure many will argue with me, but adventurers these days don't seem to hold up to the old school guys.

I just learn about it 5 minutes ago, yes he his a legend with Tenzing Norgay.

I just heard about it as well. amazing man who honestly had amazing help. definitely read the biography of tenzing by douglas. great book. either way, an adventurer of this caliber will be missed...sorely.

Well, Sir Edmund was 88 years old ... none of us will live forever.

Hillary was one of my childhood heroes whose lustre never diminished in my eyes. He was the real thing, the genuine article in every way -- bold, courageous, accomplished, dedicated, decent, humble. One of a very, very rare breed.

I agree completely. He was/is one of my great heroes. There are very few who time doesn't tarnish. He will remain one of them.
