Conditions: Packed snow to treeline, combination of packed snow and ice above treeline
Equipment needed: Snowshoes not needed. Crampons recommended for ascending cone of Eisenhower unless you want to do a lot of maneuvering to find an ice-free route. Face protection helpful when facing into the wind but not absolutely necessary.
Description: A beautiful crystal clear sunny day. Winds probably in the 40 mph range, temps in upper teens on the summits.

We had to go back this winter to climb Eisenhower because the 4000 Footer Committee said our earlier ascent on 12/21/97 did not qualify because the solstice did not occur until 3:07 that day. Well, we didn't really mind the excuse to go back! More details at:
