Saturday we woke to rain as expected. This was Geri's 45th B-day so the choice was her's to make - go do a bushwack in the rain, or go back to bed and go out to breakfast.
Two hours later we found oursleves making our way up a logging road to teh start of the bushwack to Elephant mountain in Maine.
There has been a lot of recent activity since our last drive here in November. Back then we ended up not hiking due to the large numbers of hunters in the area.
The route up to the summit mostly followed herd paths that we found, several of which were now more like streams, but 80 minutes after we started we were at the cannister. The return trip took longer was we headed off the summit on a herd path and followed it too far, ending up in thick spruce and a boggy section - all part of the adventure!
