Yesterday I hid a bike at the Jefferson Notch trailhead and drove back down to the Edmunds Path trailhead. At seven AM headed up the E. Path. Great stroll with no bugs. Sat in Emily Klug's shelter on Monroe for about 45 minutes, then over Monroe to Washington, arriving at high noon to eat a snack and watch the runners coming up the Auto Road. Headed down the Gulfside trail, over Clay and up toward Jefferson. Decided to skip Jefferson and headed down Caps Ridge trail to my hidden bike. Flew the bike down Jefferson Notch road back to my car arriving at four thirty. Not too shabby for an nearly 68 year old guy!

Trail conditions. What can one say when everything was perfect. Except as usual, the summit of Washington was a zoo.

We were browsing for flowers along the Crawford Path/Mt. Monroe at about 1:30 to 2:30pm. The trip up and down the Ammo was enlivened by a well-spaced group of about 40 (including umpteen kids) who were staying at Lakes last night.

Glad you had a wonderful hike too. Gorgeous day in spite of a stubborn black cloud and a few raindrops. Ammo Ravine was lush with streams and waterfalls, and everything was green green green.
