Trails Hiked:
Mt. Meader Trail
Meader Ridge Trail
North Branch of Baldface Circle Trail

Trail Conditions:
As a general statement, all of the above trails were wet & slippery. There were multiple “mini-ponds” laden with mud at nearly every dip in the trail, and at times the trail had become an actively running stream bed. Below are some specific statements for each trail:

The Mt. Meader Trail was the best of the 3 trails listed above. It’s a well-maintained trail.

The Meader Ridge Trail probably would have been OK under dry conditions, but the recent wet weather has caused the dips to be filled with deep mud (some are VERY deep). Plus, this trail has a lot of PUDs (Pointless Ups & Downs) which no amount of dry weather will fix!

The Baldface Circle Trail (north branch) is in desperate need of some maintenance on the upper portion. From Eagle Crag down to about the intersection of the Eagle Cascade Link Trail, the trail is little more than a herd path. The trail is darn near overgrown with hobble-bush and other bushes and conifers. However, from the Eagle Cascade Link down to the trailhead, the trail is well brushed out. There were deep mud holes at many points along the entire length of the trail. Also, on this particularly wet day (following on the heels of many other wet days) the crossings of the Charles Brook were challenging, and staying dry while making the crossing was not an option!
