This past Saturday, Gamehiker, Jim C. and I did a bushwack of Farmer and S. Abraham. Weather conditions were absolutely perfect. For bushwacking the vegetation conditions was not bad at all, we encountered minimal scappy conditions. We accessed the peaks from the famous ME town of Barnjum. I highly recommend this area, the views of the entire Abraham ridge are striking! There is a road system that would bring you nearly to the talus field on Middle Abraham. We estimated that you could get to the summit from the road in no more than an hour of easy bushwacking. As for the peaks we did, Farmer is mainly open woods the entire way, we found the register very easily and it was intact. S. Abraham is a fantastic peak with views in all directions. I have heard rumors of a possible trail along the entire ridge of Abraham, if it ever happens it will be spectacular. The summit of S. Abraham was surveyed by the State of ME in 1838 by C.T. Jackson, he actually proclaimed it to be the summit of Abraham. He cut an inscription on the summit, thinking it was the high point of the ridge. The summit is also marked by a 9 foot tall rectangular cairn, very unusual looking for sure. This is a great peak to visit for the adventuresome hiker. Kurt, not to worry, we drove right through downtown Barjum during both the morning and evening rush hours without seeing another vehicle! Aside from the bull moose and red fox, there was no one around.

Nice! I really wish I went. This summer has been a difficult one to get out. What's next, DMS? 9 more to go?
