I haven't hiked since Veterans Day so I was antsy to get out, especially since the weather had been fabulous as of late. It was extremely late (after 2pm) so Matt and I took a trip up across a small ridge in Lebanon called Farnum Hill. The climbing wasn't that bad, and despite the lack of views, the overall feeling of the hike was awesome. When we reached the northern summit (bump), there was a clearing at the cell tower with a golden view towards Ascutney Mtn in Vermont. And just down the hill, there were powerlines which opened up views in two directions....one to VT and the other towards Lebanon. With the setting sun the sky appeared to be on fire. We took a few other trails that led back down the hill, and walked down a road by a farm with Guinea Hens! They were pretty interesting to say the least. At first, from a distance I thought they were turkeys, but after seeing them up close, I changed my mind. Seeing this sign helped to identify what they were! My shots of them are kind of crappy because it was getting dark.
The small hike was just what I needed. It was a beautiful walk in the woods on a warm day, I saw some views, and had contact with Guinea Fowl! Whatta day....
Here are the pics on my new photopage. Its faster than webshots, and it lets me upload videos. I'm sold.
