I decided to start another thread because I took a couple more hikes in NY this week. The first one was an actual hike that was longer than a couple miles, (about 5 miles) and the first one I've taken where I've had poles and boots. It was out along some trails in the Finger Lakes Natl Forest, in between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. My second hike was a much shorter trek, only about 1.5 miles or so, and it was at Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca.
Here we go:
Weather on this hike was sooooo hot, in the 90s, but in this small ravine, we measured the temp at a much cooler, but still very humid 77 degrees.
trails around here tend to follow roads for short distances, like this one
many times the trails were along and thru some nice open fields...though its too bad the skies were so hazy
Remember to close the gate! Cause cattle can easily get out!
Ya know...these guys here!
It was def odd sharing the trail with them...watch out for cow patties!!
more really hazy views
Trail description called this a primitive trail tread
Some crepuscular rays
on the way back, a view of a low flowing Hector Falls along the road
and Seneca Lake...
part 2 in a minute
