fires in the eastern high peaks? the Dixes?

We are thinking about going in to do some of the Dix range, and possibly camping at Slide Brook leanto. Does anyone know if we can have fires there? I know that fires in the eastern high peaks are restricted, but I wasn't sure if this falls in the restricted area.

Fires in the Dix Wilderness are currently allowed. See here:

Future regulations regarding fires in this area remain to be seen.

Dick is right! The only places I know of where you cant have fires are the Marcy Dam, Colden and Flowed Land areas. Dixes, Sewards are all places where fires are allowed.

Another way of looking at is that the only place you are not allowed to have a fire, is in the areas where the ground/woods have been stripped bare by eople looking for firewood, and all the birch trees have had their bark peeled off.
