I hiked and rode bike in some fairly isolated places with lots of moose. Yesterday I finally found my first moose shed. I found it on Roxanne Quimby land north of Sebec Lake about 10 miles from her gate in Barnard Maine. It is 100% closed to motorized vehicles and lets say this part of Maine isn't full of too many nonmotorized recreation types so it's 30000+ acres of solitude. I found the shed in the middle of an old logging road that accesses a long abandoned camp. In the middle. I ended up carrying the thing 29 miles strapped to my camelback. I tried shed hunting in potential areas for years on foot and never found one and now I got one laying in the middle of the logging road.
