Little late but wanted to thank the "Twilight Hikers" of Los Angles for letting me join them on my first Calif hike...of course as their name goes it was a night hike, California style..
My Aunt found an article in the newspaper about where to meet and I figured that if I survived PeakBgr's ADK gathering and SherpaK's White mountain gathering then I was ready to take on some new adventures!
Going to keep this short...big thx to all of those on this board offering their help and on other sites...I didn't have a car for long so I mass transited on one trip..
Friday night hiked in the Will Rogers State park..nice easy wide jeep trail that narrowed in certain sections...city lights looked nice..hard to take pics..awesome folks there..big thx..
Sat morning, took 1 1/2 hours on 3 buses to get to Griffith Park hiked up to the observatory and up to the next peak... I could have caught a bus into Hollywood but I continued down the hill and walked app 4 miles into the heart of Hollywood where I ran into some interesting characters dressed in costumes...about 5 blocks before my destination my knee started to hurt pretty bad...stupid me, I overdid it...but what's done is done....
Next day I went sight seeing at the Getty Museum...I'm not into art but I think it was really interesting and I may just expand my mind and visit a few here in NYC...it is an awesome place and the gardens are beautiful...
Took the red eye Sunday night, landed 5 am to 10 degree temps, took 2 trains to work and played with the Kindergarten kids..showed them pics of Calif...they were scared of Chucky!
Tried to meet up with Stinky Feet and Carmel but it was to difficult..all in all it was a fun packed weekend and a Happy 75th Birthday to my Aunt who I visited!
