Depends what you mean by recent. Since the mountain was built a few thousand years ago, yes.

Herdpath is pretty much impossible to lose.... it's more like a 'trail-whack' although it's sprucy enough that you'll shed some skin.... otherwise it just looks any trail that doesn't get much maintenance....

That path was VERY obscure last year when we took it. By looking at the ground you could barely make out a clear path, and we did lose it a couple of times on the way back.
Yes, and I do have a permanent scar to remind me of fort.

When I went, the path was not at all clear at shoulder level, but you just have to keep looking down at your feet.

By "recently" I was hoping for 2009 but didn't want to restrict the scope of the question and possibly eliciting no response.
Thanks for the input..

Was up there a few days ago...walk up the trail to North Brother, keep going straight past the summit sign for a few feet, then look to your left for cairns that mark a safe way to walk down through the fragile North Brother alpine zone. The path winds around a little bit out of the way before it dips into the trees.

From there, my best advice would be to look down at the footbed - it's a pretty obvious herd path to follow if you look at your feet. Someone put up navigational aides awhile back, but I suspect they may be gone by the end of the holiday weekend.

Pants and a long sleeve shirt are a good idea - even though the footbed is well beat out, there are plenty of branches, etc.
