Galehead Mountain via Gale River Trail to Garfield Ridge Trail to Frost Trail
Date of Hike: 23 June 13
Trail Conditions: Wet and muddy trail with some areas almost completely covered with water. It was possible to rock hop so as to not submerge your feet. River crossings were relatively easy with rock hopping and one log dam crossing. Flies were fairly thick.
Special Equipment Required: Waterproof shoes - essential, Hiking poles for balance on wet and muddy trails - useful. Bug spray - useful!
Comments: It rained steadily all morning and stopped just as I arrived at the trailhead. The weather cleared in time for my hike although thunder could be heard on the way down. The rain exploded again when I reached the parking lot. Mother Nature was on my side!
