Gale River Trail (north) end of road still open and passable for cars around to Garfield Trailhead. Trail had an inch or snow at the bottom increasing to several inches at the top. A few sections of mud and some ice, as well. No blowdowns and the river crossings were mellow.
We wore Microspike ST's for most of the trip. Many hunters in the area so orange was again advisable, although Amy displayed many other colors, too.
Cold and windy but very scenic with snow blowing around on the higher peaks and the Trail's usual wonderful light. Full winter up there.
RickB., Amy, Gary and Mike B with Sarah and Matthias joining us for part of the hike.
