Garfield was okay with some muddy places and a fair amount of broken branches most of which are gone now. It had four blowdowns and three were removed. The fourth was an 8-10" evergreen that fell lengthwise into the trail near the ridge. Enough branches were removed to make it easy enough to step over and stay in the trail, but someone needs to take a larger saw than I had, or an axe, to clear it out. Stream crossings were fine. Saw only 2 trail runners.
Hale yesterday was also wet, with mud in some places, but okay. No blowdowns. Only saw three other groups.
Last Friday the mighty tough little dog and I had a leisurely lunch on Washington, with no wind, above the clouds, in the sun. Hale and Garfield this weekend were in the clouds, with strong gusty winds, and we left both quickly to hike down into fall.
