Date of Hike: 5Sep09-6Sep09 (overnight at Garfield Ridge Campsite)

Trail Conditions: Hiked up to Garfield Ridge campsite on Saturday via Garfield Ridge Trail. Trail was in great shape, no problems. After setting up camp, hiked a ways towards the Galehead Hut along the Garfield Ridge Trail with the trail in great shape. This is a very nice and interesting trail, quite a variety of scenery along the way. Plenty of people, but not too bad.

Headed up Garfield Ridge trail to the south the following day and then down Franconia Ridge trail to Liberty Springs Trail. Lots of traffic between Lafayette and Little Haystack but other than that it was very very nice. Could see all the way to Camel's Hump in VT, so visibility was very good. Also spotted 5-6 plane gliders riding thermals all around the notch. Ran into 2 rangers throughout the course of the day as well as a wedding party heading up Lafayette for their reception...certainly a nice day for it.

Special Equipment required: none, but probably should have used sunscreen
