Trails: Garfield Tr, Garfield Ridge Tr
Conditions/Equipment: The parking lot had a good deal of snow which I needed 4WD to get in and out of. The lot was pretty full by the time I pulled in at 10.45. I recently upgraded snowshoes (Atlas 1025 to MSR Evo Accent), so I wanted to play with my new toy, though they were not neccessary. Trail completely packed down until last few hundred yards to Garfield peak. Stream crossing was fine, with snow bridge stable enough to hold me (170lb) plus gear. Very warm day with little wind - no gloves/hat until very top. Some snow flurries coming down.
Equipment: Snowshoes
Comments: Very nice day for a hike - ran into about 10 or so guys (2 different groups) that planned on camping at Garfield Ridge Campsite, and ran into 3 other guys coming up as I was descending that were also doing a day hike. Back at car by 4:00. Luna did well on her second winter hike, though she doesn't always move off the trail to let other hikers pass when I ask her. Baby steps.
