Trails to both these peaks are well packed out after Sunday. Many people on the trail to Giant, and about 8-10 of us (mostly in groups of two, like us) made the trek to Rocky and back. Unfortunately, a fair number of those climbing Giant seemed to think bare-booting it was a good idea; the logic of this escapes me, coming right after the first really big storm of the winter. So, the ridge trail is a little rough in places, although hopefully the folks coming over from Rocky and sweeping the trail smoothed things out a bit.
Comments from the register indicated the trail had been quite icy before the storm, but that's not an issue now. Used snowshoes the entire time, with no need for crampons or microspikes. Also had unexpectedly good weather Sunday, with the summits in and out of the clouds, but both were clear when we got there. Got some nice photos of peaks in the clear with clouds filling in below in the Chapel Pond canyon.
