Hiked Giant and Rocky Ridge on November 20, 2010...zander scott trail to giant/rr split then over to RR via East trail. THEN back up Giant and on to Giant's Summit. great views, great weather.
bare-booted until just above the Giant Washbowl and then it was crampons for the duration of the hike. the descent into the col between giant and rr was brutal both on the way down and then the way back up. just steep.
The deepest snow we encountered was around "the bump" and in the col between giant and rr...no more than 4-6 inches. Snowshoes aren't really necessary right now but with north country snow being what it is, that statement is valid for probably today and tomorrow. hahaha..
great hike though!
