The trail leading up Giant from the more southern trailhead is in good condition. A solid snowpack has been established on the trail and there was pockets of fresh powder ranging from 1-6 inches. Snowwhoes are not required in the Giant Mountain Wilderness, but they are needed on this trail, especially in the wooded sections of the trail in higher elevations. The views on the way up Giant from the Ridge Trail and over to Rocky Peak are fantastic! Temps were cold, probably in the low teens, the sun was out, great hike! This mountain is one of the best "bangs for your buck."
